WMU to stage The Dancing Granny

The sounds of traditional African drumming and dance will fill Western Michigan University’s Williams Theatre March 8–17 when University Theatre stages The Dancing Granny.

The show tells one of many tales of a West African folk figure, Ananse the spider. In this tale, Ananse sets his sights on Granny Anika’s beautiful garden and uses his strengths to try to trick her into dancing away from her veggie patch.

Show times are 7:30 p.m. March 8 and 15; 1 and 4 p.m. March 9 and 16; and 2 p.m. March 10 and 17. Tickets are $10. For tickets or more information, visit or call 387-3220.
