Pianist and composer Michael Brown, whom the New York Times describes as “one of the leading figures in the current renaissance of performer-composers,” will premiere a new work during the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra’s April 30 Digital Concert Hall performance.

Titled “A New Concerto for Piano,” the program will feature Brown on stage with KSO string, woodwind and brass musicians in a one-hour performance livestreamed from Comstock Community Auditorium. In addition to the premiere of
Brown’s Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Strings, the performance will include selections by composers Béla Bartók and Franz Schubert.

The program will also be recorded for ticket holders to view at their convenience. Tickets are on a name-your-price basis, with a minimum price of $20, and can be purchased at kalamazoosymphony.com.
