Exhibit explores Paw Paw’s baseball legacy

An exhibit exploring the history of baseball using the stories of Paw Paw’s hometown athletes who played in the major or minor leagues goes on display June 9 at the Carnegie Community Center, 129 S. Kalamazoo St., in Paw Paw.

Past Times in Paw Paw: A History of Baseball in Our Hometown tells how and why baseball became known as the national pastime through the stories of local players such as Wade and Bill Killifer, Charlie Maxwell and Derek Mitchell.

The free exhibit, running until Sept. 8, is being presented by the Paw Paw Historical Commission and Paw Paw District Library. An opening ceremony will be held from 1-4 p.m. June 9, and the exhibit will be on display from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily. For more information, call 657-5674.
