Join the YWCA Kalamazoo for a virtual Brave Space Workshop. To successfully integrate equity analysis into programs and culture, we must first build a space with the capacity for discomfort, conflict, and critique. This workshop focuses on creating harm-mitigated spaces for discussions around justice and equity, as well as a constructive analysis around power and privilege. Participants will join guided exploration on how we can use our own complex identities as a framework for the beginnings and continuations of institutional change.
Participants will:
• Learn the difference between a safe space and a brave space.
• Increase their capacity to have conversations around privilege, power, and identity.
• Understand the difference between the individual, institutional, and systemic racism.
• Self-access their individualized antiracist journey
ONEplace will email you a zoom link the day before the training. Contact ONEplace@kpl.gov if you have any questions.
Presented by YWCA Kalamazoo.
Because this workshop is an interactive experience, we must limit the number of participants. Our anti-racism and equity workshops typically reach capacity and have a waitlist. While we hope you can make it, please let us know if your plans change so another person can join us.
