Kirk Newman Art School Residents

April 9 at 12:00 pm

The Kirk Newman Art School Post-Baccalaureate Program is in its seventh year, and more than 50 artists have completed the program. The nine-month residency is designed for aspiring artists who want to grow and strengthen their art practice in a supportive community, with access to professional studio facilities and guidance. At each of these ARTbreaks, KIA guests will hear from the KNAS residents about their experiences and artistic pursuits. Attend one or all three.

Printmaker Kenni Dankert earned her MFA at the University of Arizona. She has spent the last two decades developing her career as a multi-disciplinary artist and educator. Her practice centers material accessibility and is influenced by familial ties to label manufacturing, cosmetology, and patchwork sewing; she mixes hand and digital processes like embroidery and Photoshop to explore concepts of memory, embodiment of home, and American aesthetics of nostalgia.

Mary Ann Robertson graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Education and Early Childhood Development. She is a fiber artist and weaver. Robertson is inspired by how weaving can combine art, history, and practicality.
