Show spotlights Caldecott winner David Small

An exhibition opening Aug. 27 at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts explores the creation of a children's picture book through the works of Kalamazoo–area illustrator David Small.

It’s a David Small World, which opens Aug. 27, will feature his original drawings from the books Imogene’s Antlers, Catch That Cookie!, One Cool Friend and The Quiet Place, all written by his wife, Sarah Stewart.

Small's work has garnered numerous awards and honors, winning The Caldecott Medal in 2001 and being named a National Book Award finalist in 2008 and 2009.

The exhibit will run until Nov. 29. For gallery hours or more information, visit or call 349–7775.
